My drivers side door latch has failed on my 1999 C70. At first I could not get the door to open, now, it is jammed in the open position and will not latch. I verified the operation of both the exterior and interior releases, and I cannot even get the latch to engage manually.
I have removed the latch on my 1999 S70, but this one is different. There is no access panel to remove the latch from. From what I can assess, the entire window unit will need to be removed in order to remove the latch.
Does anyone have any experience specifically with C70 latch removal and/or removal of the window assembly?
I'd like to have this wrong, but it appears removing the window and mechanism is the only way this latch is coming out.

So after some additional research and examination, I do need to remove the window mechanism in order to replace the latch.
Couple of questions:
Should the window be fully up, down, or somewhere in between to remove it?
Since I am only R and Ring the mechanism, do the adjustment screws on the bottom need to be fully retracted or can I leave them alone and still remove the mechanism?
