It's probably an isolated incident made worse by Porsche's decision to put the battery under the driver's seat. The driver of a Porsche Cayenne and her daughter who mysteriously died four months ago on a Florida highway suffered from excessive amounts of a flammable gas that may caused by a faulty car battery.
Investigators probing the deaths of Latifa Lincoln, 45, and her three-year-old daughter, Maksmilla Lincoln, said that the two breathed in large quantities of hydrogen sulfide, a clear gas whose smell bears a resemblance to that of rotten eggs.
Lincoln and her daughter were found dead inside their 2006 Porsche Cayenne along Florida's Turnpike in Osceola County just south of Orlando, on May 13, WESH 2 reported.
I'm guessing a design decision to aid weight balance and center of gravity. The battery of the Porsche Cayenne is located under the driver's seat, while in most other vehicles it is underneath the hood.
The amatuer chemist in me thought for a second it might be the same gas that bleach + ammonia creates (WWI chemical warfare agent), but it's not.
