oxygen sensor light 850t5

Post by jeffk »

The Oxygen sensor light in my 850t5 came on immediatly after I filled the petrol tank with Shell unleaded petrol. After a few days of running the light automatically went off and did not come on again, This happened about six months ago and again it happened last week when I filled the tank at the same service station with the same unleaded petrol. Once again the light went off a few days running. The octane of this petrol is 93. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Alright, so you should be able to use the diagnostic connectors under the bonnet. Check this link out for a quick how-to on that. You'll want to use the A2 socket. You can reference each code you get here.

Dear Sean, This is to thank you for your very prompt reply to my request regarding the above. I followed the instructions you gave me and I am now delighted to tell you that the light has gone off. Thank you once again. I believe you did mention that there is a a book available on these fixes. I shall thank you to give me the name of the book and from where it could be purchased.
Jeff.

Hello again. Yes, you should be able to pick up a Haynes manual for this car. It should be readily available at most auto parts stores in the UK, since Haynes is a British company. You can also find it many places online.

Also, if the light comes back on, be sure to read the code again. If it is the same, this indicates that a part must be replaced (depending on what the code is).
