93 850 fuel tank leak
93 850 fuel tank leak
I've read may entries about the 850 series leaking when topping off the fuel tank. Well mine is doing that same thing. I thought it might be the vent hose that so many have well documented. Today I dropped the tank and replace the vent hose but the old one showed no signs of cracks or leaking. I don't know where to look next other than to fill the tank and look for leaks while I have the pump cover off. Further, does anyone know the best way to reinstall the rubber around the filler neck at the gas cap? I took the snap ring off and now cannot get it back together. Advice is appreciated.

There was a recall on the part that separates the fill pipe to the tank and free replacement from the dealer. Of course your car might be to old but it's worth a call to the dealer with your #VIN

Also...check connections/hoses on top of fuel pump assembly.

I had checked with the dealer years ago for outstanding recalls/TSB for my car. As I recall, the fuel tank recall was for a heat shield. I was avoiding filling the tank because the fuel smelled up my garage but I'm thinking now that may be the only way to find the leak. Any advice on hoe to reinstall the filler neck rubber at the gas cap? I took the snap ring off to lower the tank and now cant figure out how it goes back on.
