Thought it was time to join the XC90 club and bought myself one the other day. Cheap because no compression on cylinder 3 (burnt exhaust valve). Head is currently at the machine shop. Can't wait til I can drive it!

Nice. It's hard to go wrong with a good deal on a nice 5-cyl XC90.

No it's about the same. Only differences from other heads I've replaced is that this one has two VVT Hubs and the thermostat can't be bought separately, you have to buy the whole housing with the temp sensor.

Looking forward to hearing that this is running and your first road trip was a success. While you are doing this, you should consider upgrading the plastic vent coming out of the thermostat housing. Many folks have gone to brass (including me) and it's a lot better and more reliable. You can probably assemble the motor ok with the stock part, but the next time you need to change a timing belt or service the thermostat, the plastic vent will get broken.
