2002 S60 stalling and stumbling

Post by afbgn1331 »

Hi all,

I am new to the forum. I am having an issue with my 2002 S60 non turbo. It will stall out occasionally on acceleration or stumble. I was wondering if the fuel pressure sensor had something to do with it. I bought one from IPD but I cant seem to find where it exactly goes. Any help and insight would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Welcome Andy. It's worth trying to diagnose problems before buying parts because they aren't cheap for these cars.

Get the OBD codes read to see if you can get some info on faults. You need a reader that can read pending faults if your service engine light isn't on.

Thanks. I do have a Autel reader and there are no codes or pending codes.

Sorry I didn't answer your question. The sensor lives on the rear end of the fuel rail, driver side.

Here are pics and specs for my 2005...I think it's the same in all P2s.

thanks for the picture. Could there be another place that it is located? My S60 does not have it on the end of fuel rail. I only have the Schrader valve on the end.

Stalls out at higher RPMs- operative term here is 'occasionally' with no codes. Could be yet another case of a failing electronic throttle body. '02 I believe uses the Bosch unit as well (I think the last of the MM throttle modules were on '01s?) Mine didn't present obvious issues until weather swung colder/winter near or below freezing. I wouldn't be surprised if this is typical and every year when temps plummet there's another round of these. Engine computer tries too hard to adapt failing throttle bodies and thus seems reluctant to throw a code for it.

Ugh. 2002 non turbo ( or Naturally Aspirated, NA) uses the Classy Italian throttle body made by MM. This has the earlier fuel pressure regulator not the one on the rail.
