HELP!! Husband took off s belt/ drive belt...no diagram!

Post by kdswatosh »

Okay- husband is working on my car so gotta give him a little credit. Although, he took off the serpentine belt and was relying solely on memory. Well in comes a rain storm...now no idea how belt goes back on!

Please help me get my car back up and running. I've searched and searched the web and no diagram. Dealership was very helpful by saying, "Sorry we don't have any free techinal instructors for use over the phone. You can bring it in." NICE!

Our car manual and everything I've found on the web shows a 6 pulley system...my 1999 S70 only has 5 pulleys. Anyone have a clear diagram for this?

HELP! Thanks!!
-The trying to be very patient wife. :?

It should have 6 (5 pulleys and the tensioner). As far as I know only vehicles without air con have 5 (4 pulleys and the tensioner.)

Hi! Thanks for the help. I too looked and only see 5 pulleys that's with the tensioner. ??? The car does have AC as well.

I will give him all this good stuff when he gets home and see if he can work some magic.

thanks!

Hi! We called Whitney here in Minneapolis at the Garage (He only works on volvo's out of a hidden garage in mpls) and he was our life saver! He too thought we should have 6 pulleys. My husband and I thought we were going crazy but when he looked up my engine # he said that indeed we only had 5 pulleys. So with his help we got it working in a matter of minutes.

If anyone needs a diagram for a 5 pulley volvo belt system...we now have it. I love my volvo but these kinds of things drive my husband crazy! Can you tell it was my car before we got married. =)

Thanks everyone for trying to help!

A once again happy volvo owner in mpls!

Looks like what you have marked as the tensioner would actually have to be the water pump, couldn't imagine running without it, if so, what keeps the belt tight and stops it from jumping off the pulleys if there isn't an idler pulley, strange.
