Ignition Replacement

Looking to replace the start/stop button. Long story short, I'm stuck with the part and I'm told it needs to be programmed. Does the part need to be programmed, or just the key fobs? Paying $200 for a key programmer would be fine if that's all I need. Most shops in my experience won't install parts you bring in. Checking my options before I bring it to a dealership.
