WTB 96' - 99' P80 base, auto

Post by 850 LPT »

I'm looking for a nice, clean and well maintained 850 or S/V70, sedan or wagon. The car can be bare bones but needs to have a winter package.

It does not have to be a show winner, but I'm also not looking for a project, since my time to work on cars is somewhat limited right now.
What I would like to see is a well maintained example below 150k miles, that's the key here. Oil changes (Motor and trans) up to snuff and preferably timing belt done. I don't want to have to deal with plugged up PCV's , corroded evaporators and the like. But I don't mind doing brakes, struts and the like, you get the picture.

It does not have to be cosmetically perfect, but decent. No rips in the seats, and no smoker car will be accepted. No black or white.
I am not a bottom fisher, so if you have a real nice car, I don't mind paying accordingly.

If you are thinking of selling and your car meets the criteria above, or might know somebody who is, please PM me.

I'm looking in a roughly 100 mile radius around the Danbury, CT area but I am willing to travel a little further if you have the perfect car.

Thanks for looking,

Dirk

Maybe you already saw it but this one is an exceptional deal in my opinion: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=79315

Save yourself some minor headaches, try hard to get a 98. The 99 would be my last choice unless its a cream puff.

Thanks Erik, I remember now seeing it but probably forgot because it is quite far away from me. Also, a couple of weeks ago I wasn't as serious about buying.
I agree with you on the 98', but if I saw a super nice 99' I would consider it. No 2000 because of the 5-speed auto, which can be troublesome.

It sure is becoming much harder to find a base P80 that is in decent shape... Unfortunately I came too late for the 98' S70 in Pittsburg.

I'll keep my eyes open up here in the 518 Dirk.

If you see something good in Boston, I can inspect and get it to you as well.

That's really good to know, I appreciate that.

I'm hoping to see an 850 in the Kingston area this week, talked to the seller a few times last week. Sounds promising but we shall see.

My search is over, I bought an 04' V70 base, with automatic transmission, loaded with leather, sunroof, auto climate control, roof rails etc.

Not what I was looking for but a good deal. The car has 192k miles on it but it was incredibly well cared for and it was cheap. The exterior and interior are super clean. The leather is actually in better shape than my 05' and it has fewer dings too. It came with a full set of service records dating all the way back to 17,500 miles, which is when the PO bought it. It even came with 2 sets of wheels for summer and winter and they are in great shape.

The only thing that needs attention is a non functioning parking brake. I will drive it to work next week and see if anything else pops up.

Congrats on the new one. I wondered when the P2 would win you over again.
