Steering issue

I have an 03 XC70. What it does is once you get the steering wheel past a certain point, right or left, it pulls the wheel over the whole way and you can hear the tires dragging like they would if it was in 4wd and trying to make a sharp turn. Any ideas what could cause such a thing?

Can try put some grease on it, or switch them to the other side

Other thing, if the tires are larger than the original spec they might be rubbing
