ABS sensor harness end?

Post by zach4887 »

New to me volvo owner! Well, 5 months ago anyway, i picked up a 2006 volvo s40 t5 awd with the M66 trans. In the last few months I have done almost a complete rebuild of the suspension. All OEM supplier stuff including volvo springs, except for the Koni Orange struts, a labor of love really. Recently as i was putting in my strut assemblies i pushed the tab in on the ABS sensor harness to get it out of the way and SNAP!, the tab that locks it on to the sensor snapped off. I figured i'd buy a new harness can't be too expensive, i was wrong, most places are around 80-90 dollars for a new harness, which is insanely expensive, seeing as how it is just 2 thin wires and some rubber grommets to hold it onto the strut and inner fender. can i buy just the plug end and splice it on or solder it into? Just seeing how i can get out of it without spending damn near $100 when all i need is the clip/plug end. I appreciate any and all help!

No, you do not want to cheap out for that part. Weather tight/high-grade materials that are corrosion resistant [harnesses and sockets] are not easy to come by. When you do find a reputable supplier of the better replacement or like oem part that isn't prone to problems, you'll come to understand the expense.

ok beigg, i'll take your opinion into consideration, but the harness is fine, just the plug. I was merely wondering if anyone knew of the supplier for the plugs, previously had 2 audi a4's (b5's) and there was tons of info on forums as to where you could find plugs to fit when those securing tabs broke. If a clip broke, order one up, cut wire and use 3m butt connectors, or the dielectric grease/heatshrink combo to make a watertight seal. The info/parts might not be available yet though, as this car is only ten years old vs the audis were almost twenty.
