Post by jujufly »

Does anybody know how to change the transmission fluid on 2004 S80? if so, can you help to send some pictures to show where to find drain bolt and filler bolt also?
also i am wondering if i need to change coolant, the manual said there is no need to change coolant, if i need to change, any recommendation? thank you very much.
thank you.

What engine do you have there? Is it a 5 cylinder or a 6?

Coolant changes in PH (acidity) occur over time. You can get a PH coolant tester to see if the coolant is still good. Pays for itself after one use.

There isn't a drain plug, you will have to remove the entire pan under the trans mission. The fill tube is where the dipstick is located.

If radiator is genuine (Valeo) you may have a 5mm allen key hole close to the lower radiator hose. If non genuine you will have one in the same place however if you turn it you may break it and need a new radiator. I usually release the lower radiator hose.

You still haven't answered my question on engine type. This will determine transmission type and therefore the placement of drain plugs and fill points.
If you have a 5 cylinder there will be a drain plug. If it's a 6 cylinder the above response applies. There are no fill bolts on either type. Dipstick hole is the fill point.

A 2004 S80 will only have a 6 cylinder engine and there will not be a transmission drain plug. Here`s a video that`s reasonably informative.

It was never sold in USA. Try looking up parts for a 5 cyl S80 in USA trim. Maybe 1.
