Transmission not catching any gears until Tcm is reset
I have a 1998 Volvo s70 GLT auto transmission. I started having the flashing arrow light about a year ago, I pulled the speed sensor on top of the transmission and cleaned it with brake cleaner, stuck it back in and never had a problem again for about 10,000 miles. A week ago it started flashing again so I tried the same thing, it worked for a couple of days but now on my way home tonight. The car wouldn't catch any gears including reverse, I disconnected the battery and reconnected it and it drove fine for about two miles and slipped out of gear....I did the disconnect and reconnect again and it quit slipping for another two miles. Any suggestions?

I haven't experienced this problem and I have a different car ('97 855 GLT), so I don't know how to fix the problem you're describing. A couple of questions occurred: does the level and color of the transmission fluid look good? is there a way to read the codes from the TCM to see what it thinks the problem is?
Good luck!
Good luck!

If it were me I'd start by swapping that sensor out to see if anything changes. It could be your sensor is going - but it also may not be.
