They'll be producing within the 'Low Volume Motor Vehicles Act 2015' which limits their vehicles to being technically considered an 'updated replica': aka conforming to current safety and emissions regulations, strongly resembling a classic car produced 25 or more years ago.
They haven't finalized the drivetrain configuration...apparently 3 possible engines are under consideration. Perhaps a turbo+super Volvo L4 one of them? The question begs.
You know. A partnership between DMC and Volvo to bring new models to the brand would make a ton of sense. Volvo lacks a high end 2-door coupe offering. A Volvo engineered, Delorean branded, new model would definitely light a fire within the 'enthusiast' crowd which both companies already have a well established following. From what I understand SPA could easily accommodate this. Volvo safety/drivetrain engineering that doesn't disintegrate upon impact like so many other high end 'niche' sports coupes would garner a ton of respect within the industry and enthusiasts alike who might materialize out of the woodwork to look/buy.
I think. If I were CEO of either company I would seriously consider investigating this. Gots' WIN-WIN written all over it.
Delorean's comin back. Hold the Phone.
