Post by BillC »

I have a volvo xc90 2005 that just died . Car was running no alarms or messages then just stopped. Dash went dead, nothing when i turn the key.

Fuses are good , battery is good, no obvious problems

Suggestions?

You have what appears to be a power issue. Check all major connections involving the battery and alternator including grounds.

Then check with a meter or equivalent that power is getting to the fuse panels.

Check your relays, fuses and finally check your CEM. Has it rained lately? Your CEM may have taken a bath if your sunroof drains are inoperable or your drains near/under the hood cowl are clogged.

There is a power distribution box containing 6 circuit breakers (non resettable) next to the battery. Check all the fuses in the distribution box some are 60amp some are less. Follow the red cables from the power distribution box to where there are 2 connectors inside the left hand side of the load area under a foam sealer block. These connectors often corrode causing no power. You can unclip them to check the spade terminals for corrosion. Good luck and hope I'm not too late.
