My 2007 V70 XC with 146K miles.
Car vibrates a little in city traffic all the time now. Vibrates heavily when accelerating out from a stop to highway speeds, and mildly when at highway speed. Just had both front axles replaced, but no apparent improvement. Also replaced one ball joint. Latest mechanic even removed the rear drive shaft and drove it to try and isolate - vibration did not disappear. At a loss for where to look now. Not comfortable with long highway trips at this point. Any ideas?
Heavy vibration under acceleration.

The first step would be to find a knowledgeable garage. a search on local.google.com can show local garages with customer review.
The reason I'm saying this, is an axle must be inspected before getting replaced. There must be a lot of play in the CV to cause vibration under acceleration.
A decent mechanic would have inspected first the engine mounts, the upper one fails commonly, the lower torque mount as well. The others should be fine.
Really worn bushings in the control arm also cause vibrations on this car.
Just don't let any guessing mechanic replace parts. As for the parts, for the control arm go absolutely with Lemforder and for the engine mounts I think Lemforder is also a good choice - Ipdusa, Eeuroparts, Fcpeuro
