SC-901 FM problem
I have a 00' V70R i use as a parts car as the diff is shot and it had a SC-901 stereo in it. When I used to drive the R the Sc-901 would have this issue where if listening to FM sometimes the sound would cut out as if power was cut. But if you switched to CD or tape id work just fine, but then switching back to FM it would still have no sound unless you give the side of the dash a few good taps, then whola sound back. Well now its in my 855T cause its quite a nice unit and amp but the problem still persists. Anyone else experiance this or know a solution?

Based on what you have written and the fact hat it has been the same in 2 cars, it would point to the head unit being faulty and either has a loose connection internally or failing component based on when you whack the console it comes back on. Unless we have an electronics wizard on here, it sounds like it may be toast. Choices are find another unit, or plumb in a bluetooth connection like Yatour or Gromm. Then you could play tunes from your phone as my son does. Most costly option is to see if such a thing as an old school repair shop can check it out/repair it for you.
Last option and probably cheapest is to just replace it with a single CD unit like a SC-815/6 units. They are cheap at PnP/junkyard.

I have a few SC-811s and HU-xxx but i didn't much like the the HU-xxx with the built in CD player. I did however find the issue with my SC-901! From looking online it seems to be a common problem with the 900/901 units and I found the culprit, on the right side of the unit (front facing you) theres a small hole above the locking mechanism. Past that hole is a trimmer pot (guessing for FM gain?) and pushing on it with a screwdriver makes the audio come back. I haven't opened it up as a tap on the side gets it going for a day, but once I'm done with midterms I'm assuming all I gotta do is re-solder the trimmer pot as it seems like a bad solder joint, or just replace the trimmer pot.
