Oil drain plug crush washer / sealing washer

Typically when doing an oil change, I get a replacement crush washer from the local Volvo dealer. For convenience sake I'm trying to see if I can source it from a hardware store. Does anyone know what specifically I'd want to look for in terms of dimensions and material?

I won't try it. These are quite specific in terms of material/crushing, etc and the price to pay for a leaking one is an oil change

I'd say the opposite. It's a very generic aluminum crush washer. They're not exactly rocket science and are used in lots of places. I'd just copy the dimensions of a spare parts website if I wanted to find them locally. But since you'll need to buy oil filters anyway you might just as well get them together since anywhere you can get the filter should have them.

I must have re-used these 100x by now.Sometimes I clean them up with a file.

Over at "Two-Wheeled Texans" (thanks, Google) the consensus seems to be that they are designed to deform when tightened in order to get the best seal between the mating surfaces of the oil pan and drain plug... and apparently most people there, anyway, keep cleaning and reusing them until they start leaking:

Dorman have a gift box of 10 crush washers on Amazon. Number is 095-149

Dorman also have a drain bolt with crush washer in a box of 5. Number is 090-167

They are simply named M18 size if you're looking around.

You can reuse then a few times without any cleaning or anything. I do if I've forgotten to get new ones.

I agree with abscate.
My crush washer is still stock after 20y/190k miles.
Just make sure it goes back to the same orientation. The drain plug creates a distinct indentation on one side of the washer. I posted photos in forum.

I've seen varying quality at dealerships. The Dorman 10 pack is the best deal you'll find.
Sometimes 3 packs of oil filters from one of the online sellers include them.
A industry specialty hardware store is your only shot of finding them.
If the local parts place has 'em they'e in 2 packs for $4.

I also will use any cheap, aluminum crush washer. I periodically reuse the old one too, but prefer to just have a bunch around and swap every change. They are 50 cents each at the parts vendors, buy them in lots of 10.
