My check engine bulb is out and I need to replace it to pass emissions test. I viewed two videos on how to get to the cluster. One said all I need to do is to take out seven screws and lift the cluster out. I tried but could not get the dash pad to a proper level so I watched Roberts video on how to take the dash pad off completely. I got to the part about removing the glove box. Robert said to disconnect the glove box arms but did not show how and I am not sure and don't want to break anything so can anyone tell me how to disconnect the glove box arms to I can remove the glove box? It may be very simple but the car is old and every plastic part is brittle and breaks easy. Also has anyone had success removing the cluster without completely removing the dash pad?

I pulled the cluster to replace the speedo gear and to change out some lights. This is the video I used:
I had more trouble than the guy in the video - but I managed anyway. Watch the reset knobs that stick out of the cluster, as they'll be the things that get hung up on the frame.

To remove the 2 arms, if you look on the RHS of each arm where they meet the glove box door you will see a little recess on the side of the arm where it enters the door. Take a small screwdriver (precision type) and push it hard into the slot and carefully turn the end of the screwdriver away from the arm. You may have to do it a couple of times, but it will release the latch that holds it into the glove-box door.
You may have to move the glove box out slightly and undo the 2 cross head screws on the wire loop latch for the glove-box door to be able to remove the glove-box liner.
Once that is out you will have to remove the 3 x 10mm bolts holding the airbag in place on the passenger side inside the top of the glove box. Have you removed the 2 a T25 Torx screws from the top lip of the glove-box opening.
Before removing the airbag, ensure the battery has been disconnected for at least 30 minutes for safety. On the 850 you have a power line and in some cases an earth that will have to be removed before the dash pad can be removed.
I haven't removed an 850 dash pad for a little while but the V/S70 has 11 (?) screws holding the dash-pad in place. 1 either end behind the air-tubes (they need to be carefully prized out to access the screws, one each end), 1 in each dash-speaker recess, 2 in the glove-box upper lip, 2 in the center air vents, 2 above the speedo cluster and 1 in the air vent on the LHS.

Sorry for the late reply - no, I didn't remove the dash. I pulled the cluster as they did in the video. A second person to help pull up on the dash is nice - but is not necessary. I fashioned wedges from various stuffs and used that to help create enough clearance to pull the cluster.
Of course, pulling the entire dash is probably safest - but I don't know what else is involved with that.
