DIY erase trans codes OBD2

Post by Lucas2T »

Hi Guys

I have two error codes coming from one faulty part, a missing VSS signal coming from the back of the auto trans. Long story short, solved the problem, but have the faults still stored in the computer and thus get the flashing arrow.

Car: '95 T-5R with a OBD2 port in the centre console but without the LED+jumperwire under the hood.
Is there a way to DIY erase transmission codes via the the OBD2 port in the centre console?

I've got these two codes, read with an Autel Maxidas

I don't have access to this Autel computer anymore and I want to be able the read and erase any future codes by myself.

Thanks!

If there’s a good VSS signal now the computer should see that and after a set drive cycle the light should go off. At least that’s how my 95 worked.

In other words you shouldn’t have to do anything to reset the light. It should turn off on its own if the problem is in fact fixed.

If you’ve been driving it more than a couple days and the arrow’s still flashing the issue is either not fixed or a different transmission error occurred just as you fixed the first one (less likely).

Thanks Sun Mar!
I havent driven it more than a few meters actually. Hooked up the vss since i didnt connect it in the first place (hence the codes).
I thought i had to manually erase the codes first to get rid of the flashing arrow.
I'll have to repair the infamous leaking crimped oil cooler lines first before i can take it for a long test drive. One step forward and two steps back...sigh
