After replacing the upper radiator hose and clamps, and sealing a few cracks in the plastic around the upper radiator inlet tube, I'm still seeing coolant leak from the same area (though not as quickly as before the hose was replaced). I believe the cracks may be more pervasive than can be solved with sealant, and that a radiator replacement is necessary to prevent further leakage. I have a couple of questions about that.
1. I have read over the procedure in VIDA. Mostly it seems like unhooking everything that's connected to the radiator, and unbolting the radiator/fan assembly. The trickiest part seems to be actually removing the radiator from the engine compartment. It appears that this must be done from below rather than above, and that it's necessary to have the car raised quite high in order to have enough clearance to remove the radiator. Has anyone had any experience with this, and were you able to use a run-of-the mill jack and jack stands to raise the car, or was a lift required?
2. Which replacement part to use?
- Genuine Volvo at FCP is $300
- OEM Behr at FCP is $112
- OEM Nissens at FCP is $128
- "Economy" ADPI/Pro at RockAuto is $86
My sense is that pulling this from a junkyard car would not be a good idea due to its highly prone position in the car and high likelihood of cracked plastic.

I used the Nissans, which lasted 4 years.
Run of the mill jack stands, dropping from below, worked for me.

Never use a junkyard radiator unless you know it was installed right before the car was junked.
An $86 radiator from RA? No thank you.
