2001 V70 T5 Sunroof seal

Post by 01_Nautic_V70 »

So on my 2001 with about 157,000 miles, there's quite a bit of wind noise from the sunroof at highway speeds. It also actually moves as I pass trucks due to changes in air pressure. I'm thinking the seals are old and not really pliable and thus not sealing things up as well as they did originally.

Can the seals be bought separately? I've seen them sold with new glass, but don't see anything to recondition an existing sunroof. While up there, I also need to replace the little modesty panels (folds over the left and right mechanisms) and remove the solid sun shade as it has a lot of rattle in it and is always open anyway.

I would start by tightening the torx bolts for the window frame since they can be known to loosen up. I believe they are T25. Maybe use a dab of blue loctite too.

Thanks, I'll start there and see how it goes. I looked at the seal itself at lunch. no obvious or large cracks but it is faded and quite hard. not much pliability at all in it. That doesn't seem surprising for a 17 year old piece of molding, so I'm wondering how bad that'll be to get off and put new on.
