V40 2.0 Engine same as Renault Laguna Engine ?

Hi,

My engine in my V40 2.0 has just gone, I am aware that the Renault Laguna 2.0 engine may be exactly the same, they look the same but cannot speak to anyone to confirm that they are? Does anyone have any knowledge on this?

A new engine from Renault is considerably cheaper than buying the same engine from Volvo if they are exactly the same?

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated!!
