What are these hoses?

Post by Handyahayden »

Hi guys. I was filling my atf and this small hose broke off from this big hard plastic hose. What are they, what do they do and how can I fix them? It's a 2001 v70. Not a turbo. Thanks a bunch!

It’s the ejector valve for brake vacuum. You will need To fix that , of course.

Your engine will run rough from the vacuum leak, take forever to get to speed, after which you can’t stop.

( a little hyperbole as you will still have full brake function just a harder pedal)

Volvo changed that weird design perhaps in 2003 or even 2002. Try to find a 2001 non turbo at the junk yard/Ebay

Or, if it's possible to clean with some lacquer thinner all grease, some Permatex ultra bond glue 'may' work, who knows.. that glue melts the plastic and bonds it together. But it's a tough area with stiff hoses
