Heh guys. Plan to go take a look at a 2005 V50 tomorrow afternoon and wondered if there are any sore spots that I should know about in advance.
Here is the ad: https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto ... 65926.html
I know after the model year 2000, Volvo sold off a lot of their businesses and I wonder about the quality control on these model years. Probably not the same as "MADE IN SWEDEN".
Anything negative I should know about a used V50?

I have a 2005 v50 T5. It’s been good but has had nuisance repairs: door lock, ignition switch, fuel pressure sensor, wheel bearings, fuel line leak, sun roof drain was clogged and flooded the car and possibly the computer. It’s not made for large drivers The gas pedal is cramped for large feet. No cell phone connectivity. Just started to rust this spring (Minnesota).

I bought an '06 V50 2 months ago and love it!
+1 to what Reinie said. I'm currently replacing my real wheel hubs haha. Also have heard about sunroof drainage issues. Thankfully it's not too difficult to get at the drains and blow some compressed air in to clear 'em out. Sunroof has 4 drain points, that converge into 2 hoses, that run along the A-pillars.
All in all, not a ton of notorious ______mile failure issues, from what I've heard from other V50 owners. In general, take a look at suspension components, tie rods etc. Also exhaust condition, shape of cat and whatnot. The timing belt change is supposed to happen at 120,000, if I were you, get confirmation that work was done. If it wasn't you might be able to talk the price down a bit.
Good luck!
