S80 2009 loses all power
I have a 2009 s80 that is driving me out of my mind. Current problem I purchased a new battery and new negative battery cable installed both and finally got the car to start. As soon as I shut the hood the car lost all power again . Get out and shift the battery finally I hear a slight click at the front of the engine and the power comes back on. Close the hood again and again car shuts down. Someone help please. Oh I disn't mention that before I stop driving it the culprit was when I came out of the store one day I had no power and key fob wouldnt work. A friend came and as soon as I popped the hood latch all power was restored. Any ideas on what is going on?

I know that a faulty crankshaft pulse sensor does some funky things. On the other hand, check the mass cabling and make sure the battery is ok and the dynamo is still working (measure the idle + load voltage)

Thanks for the response. The battery is new just installed a few days ago. However when it shuts down and I lift the hood if I shift the battery a bit whatever it is reconnects and I have power again. I called one of the dealerships and they seem to think it's a loose connection somewhere. However I will have to get someone else to trace the wires and cables to see where it might be. I'm a little mechanically inclined but not sure if I'll know exactly what I'm looking for.

Try following the main leads which connect to the battery as far as you are able to before turning it into the dealership
