I've searched a bit on this; not sure my issue is the common failure of the whole latch mechanism and tailgate being stuck.
My problem is that the outside handle above the license plate doesn't always engage to open the tailgate. The electric lock works OK (a little slow, may be binding somewhere as the little knob inside is slow to pop up). 1/2 the time however, when you squeeze the handle, its not pulling on anything.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

I just replaced my latch assembly last month. Got a replacement from the junk yard. The outside handle moves a metal rod which pushes on the inside latch assembly. In fact, when I replaced mine, it wouldn't open from the outside and it was a good thing I grabbed the entire latch assembly to include the 2 metal rods since my original one was about 3mm shorter and wasn't fully engaging the latch. You may be able to just straighten it out and see if that helps.

You may want to order one of those tailgate panel repair kits from FCP Euro. I broke just about all those plastic guide pins when I removed mine.

Mine are already broken. Prior owner screwed it on with sheet metal screws!configsys wrote: 12 Jul 2018, 10:14 You may want to order one of those tailgate panel repair kits from FCP Euro. I broke just about all those plastic guide pins when I removed mine.
