Question - what part is this?

Hello,

I have come back to ask what part is this and why is it leaking. It just started on Friday and I am concerned about driving it - is it safe to drive and is it an easy fix?
The pictures attached of the leaks I found under my car.

That part is an air conditioner accumulator. There is not anything i it that can leak out and make that much mess. The a/c system only holds 7 oz or less of oil and the a/c would not be cooling. I think your power steering reservoir or a ose connected to it is likely the source of the mess. DO you have any whiney noises when you steer? It could be coolant from the coolant tank as both are next to each other above and a bit behind where that black accumulator is located. Raise the hood and check levels in the black tank with smaller black screw on cap and the whitish tank with the green screw on cap. Blk is p/s fluid and the white is coolant and water mix. Both have markings on outside to indicate the level they should have.

Safe to drive? no. That looks like a pretty big leak. Depending on what it is, if that fluid that is leaking runs out the car could be damaged beyond practical repair.

It might be an easy fix, but not necessarily

If I were you I'd have it towed to your mechanic just to be on the safe side.

there doesn’t seem to be any whine, but it does take a little more effort to turn the wheel - I’m assuming it is a power steering leak (it’s clear) since the fluid leaking doesn’t look like coolant. How do I found if it is a leak in my car? BecUse it seems to only leak after I turn off the car.

Okay, thank you - the only problem is that I don’t know if that big leak (the photo with the flash) is from my car. It came from behind my car and not the front. I’ll have to check the levels.

the only thing that should leak is the AC but then this is just condensed water. And I´ve never seen a puddle this big from an AC. But what do I know about New Mexican weather.

Try to soak up the fluid with a paper towel (white) and see if you can smell anything or see which color it is.

Check your engine oil level, check your transmission fluid level, check your power steering level, check your coolant level, and check your brake fluid level.
