Hello folks!
First post here.
My Volvo V40 (Astrid) is having temperamental issues with the interior blower motor. Seems to be quite common with these cars. It's almost as bad as 90s Jeep Wranglers. My issue is slightly different than just replacing the resistor (why do people call it a 'resistor'? Isn't it a transistor?).
I just finished replacing it. Still no dice. However, I can here it click when turning the fan switch. I assume that means there's no issue with a fuse or relay (is there a relay in this circuit?). I have not put a meter on any of the outputs to verify.
What are some things I should be checking? is there a way to verify current to the motor or run the motor directly from a 12v source?
Another blower motor dilemma

Can't help much, but I would think that a typical DVM would enable you to verify the current and voltage by backstabbing the blower motor connector.
Yes, S40s have issues with the HVAC controls.
My '01's blower has a mind of its own. If it bothered me that much, I'd send the ECC to xmodex.
But I generally don't have the A/C or defroster on where I live.
I've also changed the "resistor" but it didn't resolve anything.
