Winter Tire Sizing, FWD V60

Post by BrianV70 »

Hi folks, need some opinions.

2016 V60 front wheel drive.

Stock tire size: 215/50/17

Winter tire - Continental Wintercontact SI

Size 1: 205/60/16. Same diameter, a little narrower. Probably the safe choice.

Size 2: 205/65/16. 1" taller (1/2 inch more ground clearance!), a litter narrower, tire is also cheaper. Will the handling be horrible?

Driving mostly paved highways in Colorado, one pass that gets gnarly-ish (Berhoud Pass).

Thanks!

I would go with 1 since it's an approved size for the car but that said the noticable difference to 2 will probably be very small so if it's a better deal..
