Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Replace heater core

Post by thienle »

Please advise if there are any instruction (with photos if available) of how to replace a heater core for 2001 Volvo S80 2.9L. And does the coolant require to be drained? Thank you very much.

I believe it's better to drain the coolant indeed.

If the problem is no (or not enough) cabin heat, try first the Prestone Flush treatment

Don't forget to test the thermostat as well www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQxQnuU22Ow

If you decide to go with a new heater core, see this other video, gets you an idea as it's pretty much the same. The steering column that gets in the way can be slide either upwards or even completely removed by sliding it downwards - just mark the column before removing it (www.youtube.com/watch?v=atgnxtHoao8)
