So I have had the inevitable electrical issues caused by the tailgate hinge pinching wires. I pulled apart the D-pillar years ago and cut and spliced every wire in the loom.
The only item not working is the rear demister/defogger. It's pretty cold in PA and I want to put the D pillar back together.
Is anyone able to read through the wiring diagrams and tell me the color of the correct wire to work on? Are there tests I can use to determine? I started trying to take apart the side of tailgate to see which wire went to the demister but I started breaking/cracking more.
Thanks in advance.

The schematic shows a Yellow wire with a Red stripe as the hot lead and a black wire as chassis ground.

Thanks Lee. The yellow wire with red stripe is one of the thicker wires and my only wire with 2 splices. looks like it could be a problem. I'll fiddle with it, maybe put a new piece of wire in and report back.

If you’re planning to replace the section that moves,
might I recommend upgrading the wire. Especially
if you open the tailgate a lot in colder weather.
Either check with a specialty automotive electrical shop ( We also
have several trailer supply stores and a couple alternative energy
equipment dealers ) that carry cold weather hookup wire
by the foot. Here’s a great resource as an example:
http://www.polarwire.com/ourwire.html
If there isn’t any readily available, you can make due with an all weather
extension cord marked as type SJOOWA ( good to -50 ) and harvest
some good, flexible wire that will last longer than the car.
And Always Solder and Shrink - Accept No Substitutes!
