There's an existing ("expensive") version and a new one, more cheaper, that is still in works. What way you guys want to go?

Old:

- Arduino Due Dual CAN kit $79.95
- SparkFun Big Red Box $8.95
- 93c86 and ULN2003a cost pennies, the shipping will be 90% of price

New:
- ESP32 WROOM $10.99
- MCP2515 - $9.99 for 3 (you need 2) - can get for like $1.5 from China
- POW3 enclosure + PCB $32.99
- level shifter - $9.89 for 10, you need 1 or 2.

Display is $39. Plus a bunch of other common stuff, like connectors, wires, delay timer, DC-DC power converter, etc.

The reason of why I'm switching to a cheaper version is that Red Box is huge, it barely fits under the seat, and I need 2 of them: second one controls two Volvo rear seat entertainment monitors. So I'm building something more compact.

Been in the field of electrical engineering for half my life. Have installed numerous GPS navigators and remote starters long before the smartphones came into the world.

Are there esthetic and/or performance or capability differences or reliability issues between the old and new versions? If not, I'd go cheap every time.
