Hi all
Newbie here seeking advice.
Stupidly overfilled with engine oil (not by much) last week.
Going on a long trip last week I checked electronic dipstick. It was reading low. Topped up rechecked still low, topped up again, thought nothing of it.
50 miles or so into trip the "engine system requires maintenance" flashed up. As it was an amber message and went out by pressing end of stalk buttons I carried on.
When I got back I checked this site and guessed I had overfilled car.
Changed the oil and filter today and drained about 6.5 litres.
My question is will the message auto reset or will it need dealer or indie garage intervention.
Many thanks
Engine System requires maintenance

The message you got is very much unlikely to be caused by the oil level being slightly overfilled. You should get a diagnostic readout to see what code(s) is stored so a cause for the message will be known.
