That's way too much to pay for that car...$4000 would be pushing it. And you'll have to spend another $1000 refreshing it.

At an asking price of $7000, I had to see where you’re located. India? Do Volvo’s fetch a premium price there? I’m guessing the seller is a dealer. Who else would have the guts to ask that much? As Archer mentioned, you need to count on some additional expenses after the purchase. A few things to ask would be:

Was the timing belt replaced at 105K as recommended? If not, it needs to be done NOW.

Has the PCV system been serviced? (Research the “glove test”.)

Has the radiator and/or heater core been replaced yet?

Has any significant front suspension work been down yet?

Has the transmission fluid been replaced on any sort of regular schedule - wipe the dip stick on a white napkin and see how dirty it is.

At 130K that car could easily be ripe for about $2500 in repairs/servicing if performed by a shop.

Good luck in your car purchase. Personally I’d rather have a root canal than go through the car buying process.

As above, I find the $7000 steep for a 2005 with 130K miles. But again at the main dealer we are going to pay an extra $2000 on top of the market price.

I have a list here with what may go wrong.. basically these are the cars to either do own repairs or have a local independent garage that works on Volvo with parts from online sites. Otherwise, this is not the car to bring to the main dealer for repairs, it's not economical. www.youtube.com/watch?v=aT5BHuKfTR0
