Any Interest in a Thorough Volvo Variable Intake System write up?

Post by callahanoffroad »

In my ownership of my 95 850 manual base, i've incidentally become quite the authority on variable intake systems. Would anyone be interested in having me write up an article discussing the system, how it works, what vehicles it can be found on and the differences between the VIS intake and the later intake systems? Figured it might be good for an FAQ article.

I think there was a write up in the UK forums with a crosslink to the VRD here?

If not, or we can't find it, Im sure Matt would like it! Its quite a funky system, Ill bet parts are hard to find.

The only write-ups I could find were vague and some of the information was incorrect. There was one where a gentleman built his own VIS solenoid but it wasn't very comprehensive in its coverage of the system. Just that it worked and his butt dyno felt some difference. hahaha. I think i'll just do it and that you guys can decide whether it is an improvement. :-)

Yes. Please do. When I was doing PCV replacement on my '94 850 NA, I was wondering what was with that IM. I've
since learned a little bit about the system, but any good infornation is good infornation. How do you know if it's even working properly. Thanks
