Schematics, test points and numbers.

Hey guys. What I'm after is information on the test points and the voltages and resistances for both the LH2.2 and LH2.4 systems as found on 1988 and 1990 Volvo 240's.

Am also seeking computer board schematics with test points and the numbers and/or oscilloscope readouts for the same computer systems(lh2.2, lh2.4, both ignition and injection units as found on the 1988 and 1990 240, respectively.

In other words, I am seeking the full diagnostic and troubleshooting documentation that a mechanic/technician would use for the entire system, not just a few token sensor resistance and voltage numbers, as seems to be common in most of the documentation I've found.

I have been searching for such info for the last couple of years. This info almost seems to be unavailable, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. It's also a surprise that it's not on the internet. With the age of cars today, its terrible not to have this info available. I have been unable to find any reference to the Volvo 240 workshop manuals either. The Haynes one, only manual available, is only useful for lighting a fire with... lol.

I ask, as being in remote Australia(think of being on the moon and you're close), with these cars as daily drivers, the full diagnostic and test data would be advantageous. Most things are obvious. Its diagnosing the problems that arrise with the electrics and the electronics that can be the difficult ones, especially when the specs aren't known and can't be found. As reliable as the old Volvo's are, they do occasionally need a bit of fixing,l. Sometimes its more than the obvious and more than simple bad connections and reseating connectors. I often do find them. The trouble or fault codes on the LH2.4 are helpful, but not always indicative of the problem. The LH2.2, a diagnostic nightmare when little diagnostic info is known. The internet via mobile and such isn't always available, so searching the net for help when an issue arises, isn't an option.

Any info on where I could find such info, or even the original workshop manuals, would be appreciated!

There is a better manual available - Bentley Publishers "Volvo 240 Service Manual". It covers 240 series for 1983 to 1993 in better detail than Haynes. I do not think it has the detail you want but is an improvement for most repairs.

The LH2.2, a diagnostic nightmare when little diagnostic info is known.

Diagnostic nightmare....not really...when one understands "what's happening."

It's about getting back to the basics....does it have fuel, and does it have spark.

With LH 2.0, I had no issues...but, I've been turning a wrench since later sixties.
