I'm 6'2", when the top's down, I have a hard time focusing out of the windshield in my Miata. When it's sunny, the sun is CONSTANTLY in my eyes, regardless of which direction I'm driving. I can't wear a hat because it'll blow right off

... my head is basically level with the top of the windshield.
Maybe a larger convertible like a BMW 6 series would be better, but I definitely wouldn't buy one of those... too much of a big cruiser for my taste. But I'd happily take an M6 coupe... the old one that still came in manual.

No wait, I did drive my stepdads 2005-ish Miata about 5 years ago. The top was up though.

Anyway, it was an automatic

and slow.

You’d have to drive a manual one. NBs are great, I loved my ‘99. Wish I got to drive it more, it only had 89k miles and ran like a top. That ‘99 motor (best flowing head for Miata engines) felt awesome paired with the 4.30 limited slip diff.

Not blisteringly fast, but enough to have fun. My ‘92 was originally auto with the 1.6, and it was MISERABLY slow. Now with a 1.8 and manual, it’s fun. Still needs more power, but it’s not unbearable!

I love “momentum” cars — low hp, small(er). But they’ve got to be manual transmission.

Stepdad: “Matt, I bought a 2005 Miata”

Me: “Yes! Cool!”

Stepdad: “It’s green, with an automatic”

Me: [speechless with disappointment] ...

If there’s a car you absolutely, 100% always get with a manual transmission, it’s a Miata.

A Miata with an automatic is like going to Hawaii and not going to the beach.

Agreed 100%! I really don't know why they even make an automatic Miata... it's just dumb. There's a reason the S2000 only came in manual... it's a driver's car.
