How Smooth Should S80 Automatic Gearbox Be?

How smooth should Volvo S80 2005 5-speed automatic gearbox ideally be?
Form time to time I feel gear changes, especially from second to third. It's definately not rough but you feel the gear has changed.
Is this kind of behaviour normal or is it a sing of upcoming gearbox problems?
In addition, the O/D off light on the car is on, but it doesn't turn off. what should i do now?
I've read some posts about this, as https://tireer.com/o-d-off-meaning/ but it's still not clear to me. Need some advice, thanks!

If a gear change is noticeably different than the others, it's not right. Doesn't mean it's time for a new transmission, catastrophe, etc., just that your instinct is correct. There are many threads here discussing S80 transmissions.
