These full page ads

I've noticed an issue with the full page ads that appear every now and then, picture below. When I use the red dot to go to the first unread post the dot makes the browser not only not go to the right post but when the page loads every post is marked as already read, making it impossible to see which was the first new post. Anyone else? Attaching browser info as well.

Hi Rattnalle, what page are you starting on? I need to be able to re-create this to solve it.

Looks like hijacked web browser or push notifications.

I guess that's for Matthew to say "oh no those don't belong to the page" if that's the case

And now I managed to hit "resolved" instead of "quote". Sausage fingers and little buttons..

Hi Rattnalle,

You can unsolve a post (and thus, topic) the same way you solved it:

Mobile

Tap the solved button. It says "Set topic as unsolved"

Click the checkbox, which will be red because you're unsolving it.

The posts list... would you mean the index for each forum? Like for this forum we're in: viewforum.php?f=4 ?

Whatever the case, the ad is expected behavior. It's part of the automatic ad serving done by Google's AdSense platform.

I'm concerned there's a problem... that the ad causes every post is marked as already read, as you wrote.

EDIT: I can't re-create this scenario of every post getting marked read. I'm on mobile Chrome.

I suspected the ad was fine in itself

I mostly read using the "New posts" link in the hamburger menu top right. The one showing recent activity on all subs in one place.

Occasionally the ad shows up when navigating to a thread. If I've used the little red dot to go to the "first unread post" the page loading after the ad will leave me at the top with no post on the page marked as new, again with the red dots, anymore. If the ad doesn't load I get dropped at the first new post and it's marked as new.

I’ve gotten the scenario you describe today, but no error. The unread links remain red — unread. Let’s chalk it up to anomaly, and I’ll look at it again if it happens often, disrupts your use of the forums, or both. Sound good?

Sounds good. Part of the reason I posted was to see if anyone else has the same issue. I'll report back in a few days.
