Accelerator delay '06 XC70

Since I have bought this car used, I have noticed that the accelerator pedal seems to have a delay before giving good power. From a stop, it acts like it has no power until I hit about 10% to 15% throttle. I have looked at the TPS on a programer and it seems smooth throughout the cycle and registers correctly. I hear it do its auto adjust at around 30 seconds of the key being turned. I cleaned the entire throttle body including the mechanism in the plastic housing. I have replaced the PCV system. Oil changed. Good rail pressure. New air filter. Shifting is good. New timing belt. I do have a mild brake booster vacuum leak that I havent gotten around to fixing yet. I dont feel like this would be related to that though.

Replace ATF with Volvo 1161540.

I have done 2 atf drain and fills with no effects one way or the other.

Yes vacuum leaks cause a hesitation. Just got my car back from Volvo service a hour ago and a hose assembly had a cracked vacuum hose. I had a engine light that came on for four days then went out. It was a purge valve code. The car had been hesitating for a month. Hesitation is gone now. I was just reading a post about vacuum leaks and ETM equipped Volvos earlier today. The below picture is the hose replaced on my car, though a vacuum leak anywhere likely will cause the same problem. You may want to block the booster off for a test run to see if it cures the problem. Maybe even smoke test the system for other leaks. June

Check the intake hoses for leaks.
Is the PEM located under the car, or in the rear? Some '06s still had it by the fuel filter, where if you haven't yet, I'd replace it. Do a little common maintenance, and just go through it. How old is the Air filter? Go through the silly stupid things would be my suggestion.

All intake hoses good. Rubber intake boots replaced. Air filter a month old. Good call on checking the rest of the vac system. I honestly have no idea where the purge valve is on this car. Not much info online on the location either. I dont see it under the hood anywhere, I dont see it behind the rear fender area or near the fuel filter.

It does not seem to be vacuum related after blocking off. It doesn't seem to have other vac leaks, but will test that more.

To explain better, its sort of a mild dead pedal feel until about 10 percent throttle. It just lacks sensitivity from 0 to 10 percent.

My 02 70xc has a small throttle delay too. When i cleaned my etm i took off the cover and checked the shape of the gears and noticed when opening the butterfly valve theres a small amount of play before the gears move. Im sure this is my delay problem. Maybe go back and check. At least its not too hard of a job. Good luck.
