No codes but no start either

Post by yarch13 »

Ive got an 05, crank but no start. Replaced the PEM with a known good one. No codes and my scanner is showing fuel pump relay active but,it has no fuel pump running. Anyone know a way to jump the fuel pump power to test it separately? I'm stumped...

Hit it with a three second shot of starting fluid. If it fires you know for sure it is a fuel delivery problem.

...its definitely fuel related. Pulled the fuel rail and cranked it and got nothing. But there has to be a way to hotwire the fuel pump. If I can do that and have pump, it's electrical somewhere. If nothing, it's pump. I pulled all 5 plugs and poured a little full in each cyl, replaced plugs and coils and boom, ran for 2 seconds. Odd thing is, my scan tool shows when the fuel relay kicks on but no pump. I'm leaning to swapping the pump out but money is tight and I want to diagnose the correct issue.

Did you measure the fuel pressure at the fuel rail?
Your fuel injectors could be turned off, no power to the injectors.

Check for +12V on the green wires of the injectors with the key in POS II.
Check fuse 11B/6 Check for +12V at fuse 11B/6 (Small fuses under the hood).

You just saved $300 and time by diagnosing instead of throwing parts.

Anyone have a picture of the top of an 05 plastic fuel tank? I pulled the cover under the rear passenger seat, pulled the ring but its just the sending unit. Doesn't look anything like pictures on the internet. Guy was driving when the car lost power and died so, leaning farther to the pump side being the issue.
