Many years ago (35 or so) when still in Scotland I was hit by another car the police estimated was at 80mph. He came through a center barrier on the highway and hit me on the driver's door/B pillar and slid along the whole side of the car and spun me 360 around and I ended up on the crash barrier. Not a mark on me even though I was travelling at 50 mph in the other direction. What was I driving? A Volvo 145 and I credit that car with saving my life. Traffic cop said if I was not in a Volvo or possibly a Mercedes I would not still be around.
No air-bags or SIPS but fixed 3 point seat-belts. Again car still ran and could be driven (not legally) after replacing rear tire with spare event though car was actually twisted along the length!
