overheat

During the warmer months, when I run the a/c driving longer distances on the thruway
the engine starts to overheat also the a/c seems to take a little while to get cold. I didn't know
if these 2 problems were related.
any feedback would be great. Thanks

Possible causes:
1. Failing AC compressor. (Excess engine load).
2. Inefficiency in the cooling system. ( clogged radiator, fans not working, water pump going out)
3. Faulty engine coolant temperature sensor.

At idle, does the engine drag down when the AC compressor kicks in?

no, actually I don't even here the compressor click on when I turn it on

Check the condenser fins for mud, bugs, or any blockage. If you have never cleaned the condenser go to a power wash station and spray with aluminum wheel cleaner then pressure wash thoroughly. I do mine twice a year after each love bug Season. In 16 years it has never harmed my condenser and the intercooler and radiator are sandwiched behind it so good airflow is important. June
