95 wagon 2.3 turbo 850

Post by Jeffkindelspire »

I've committed myself to a disabled friends 95 wagon 850 turbo. It was hot wired and the entire ignition switch, housing and wiring hacked to death. The ignition key housing destroyed, alternator rectifier burnt out.
Headlight relays under dash gone, cooling fan relay is good, fan dont work.
I've replaced the alternator with volvo 100 amp Bosch off ebay.
Thermostat today and flushed block out.
Turn signals headlights a/c and heater not operating.
Car has 160k, dealer service till 40k.
I have it running, but the cooling fan I hope to find tomorrow with an ignition housing, ect for the column.
My next step includes the turn signal, headlight and blower motor all fail.
Any testing, procedures with any of these issues would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you have access to junkyard parts but if you need any relays let me know I can send you some.

For the blower motor, if the problem is not the wiring then it could be a few things:
the motor itself, test it by applying 12V
the blower motor resistor - check if the car has manual climate control MCC or electronic climate control ECC. They use different resistors https://www.fcpeuro.com/Volvo-parts/850 ... &d=46&v=86 but you can get one from the junkyard.
the climate control unit - if it is ECC then there can be several ECC models they don't always swap right over from the junkyard. I think all MCC control units swap straight over, unsure.
