What parts to grab? 98/99 mix match...

Okay, so I have a lead on a 1998 S70 GLT turbo.

I own a 98 V70 NON-turbo and a 99 S70 T5 turbo...

If this car is pretty complete what parts would you suggest I grab from the 98 GLT that would interchange with my two cars listed above?

Stock on these P80s in my area has dried up lately in the Pick A Part locations. I guess they are all going straight to the crusher these days.

The primary thing I might be after from this car is a near perfect fender that's my color. It's about 90 minutes away from where I live and I have no photos to work from...

shockingly few to be honest when it comes to your 99 s70 Turbo.

Probably a lot with the 98 V70

I did a similar thing. Have a 99 s70 NA and used a parts car 98 NA. Both were manuals .

I used it for the front subframe and interior bits.
I was lucky that the interior of the 98 donor car was same color (but not style) as my car. The good interior bits matched up fine. Amazingly the 98 donor car had working sunshades!

Here's what I found with the 98 donor vs my 99:

Ignition systems were different. 98 plugs and distributor, 99 coil on plugs.
Alternators were different. (probably would be fine for your 98 V70)

I snagged transmission and front axles because who doesn't want a spare manual transmission in their backyard. Front axles won't fit my car as they use different bolt style (big nut on 98 vs 14mm bolt on 99). I grabbed them in case someone needs them. I should post those...

Brake systems probably are same across your two cars .
Suspension bits are same I think.

I grabbed the motorized antenna and even that is different. the 98 worked in my car but I had to use the in trunk mount from my 99 as well as the rubber grommet on rear fender.

The lights and side markers are all the same I think.

SOME motor mounts might be the same.

Power steering pump and reservoir is probably different as well. (probably match your V70)

Wheels are same.

Interior bits are same if you get lucky with color

Well, Amblerman, so much for the easy stuff. How about '98 normally aspirated to '99 2.3 T turbo? (kidding you)

It's amazing how much changed between 98 and 99. The model names carried over from 98 to 99, but in 99 Volvo started trying out a bunch of new stuff that changed lots of parts and subsystems in ways that aren't obvious right away. For example, I had assumed I could use the alternator from the 98 parts car I found but it was a different amperage.

Also, as in the thread about motor mounts that you and I both replied to, we both independently found out that the side motor mount is even unique on some cars.

It baffles me how many parts were unique to the last two years of the s70.

I think the answer to your original question would be just about the same parts that could swap between your 98V70 and 99 T5. (ie compare the two cars you own.)

Am I right that the ignition system is different on those two right? (ie: your v70 has a distributor and your 99T5 has coil on plug?)

different power steering?
etc?

[edited because I didn't like the way my original message potentially sounded based on ways certain sentences could have been read. ie, in a certain way my original message sounded a bit sarcastic and I definitely didn't mean it that way.]
