Hi all, I’ve used the driver side yellow accessory connector in the past. For my CB in the V70, I used connector #1 which was supposedly a 30-amp circuit. It was constant hot, that much I know for sure.
I know that #8 is a ground connection. I’ve searched around for what connectors 2-7 are and some diagrams show several of them as 1-amp circuits and one as “X-supply”.
I’m trying to wire a 12 volt socket for charging phones into the 850. I know I could use connector #1, but I’m not sure I want a phone charger wired to a constant hot circuit. Which of the other connectors would be good for a 12 volt power circuit and what are the other connectors fused at?

X-Overload is your switched output.
It's probably a good idea to use it to
energize a relay to pick up constant.
Probably also a good plan to fuse everything.

Ok so looking at this diagram, connector #2 is hot in ACC or Run and has a 10-amp fuse. I’m thinking this would be the best option, as the other switched one is only hot when high beams are on.
If #2 has a 10-amp fuse for one 12volt power adaptor, would I still need another one in line? Most cigarette lighters use a 15amp fuse, would 10amp for a power socket be too low, as in blowing all the time? What if I put a 15 amp in the fuse panel in its place and didn’t use an in line fuse?
If using this Yellow accessory Plug isn’t the best method for a 12volt charging plug, where would be the next best place to tap into an ACC/Run switched circuit? I see the plug adaptor for the “Info” switch is right next to where I’m putting the 12volt socket. I have the regular gauge cluster and no plans to upgrade to the Info one. Could I just tap into that hot and ground?

Has anyone found the matching plug to the accessory plug provided by Volvo? I would love that.
An X circuit Is a switched hot 12 V supply in key pos II , not sure about I, which is also switched off during kP III ( starter cranking). Perfect for a phone charger

If it were me, I’d use 2 to trigger a relay
that supplies power from constant, then
fuse the relay’s output. Value? Dealer’s
choice, but 15 would be fine.

They have to be out there. maybe cut down
a connector with a higher pin count? If nothing
else, pins from other connectors should fit.
Just remove them from another shell. A little
heatshrink, fold it back and ty-wrap it off to
the acc conn harness and you have a pretty
solid and reversible connection.

Thanks Abscate. When you say “matching plug” are you referring to just the removable part of the yellow accessory connector? I think that would have to be a junkyard item. Or are you talking about a yellow accessory plug with all 8 pins installed and several inches of wire attached to them, similar to a wiring harness you can buy for an aftermarket radio?

Thanks for all your advice, BEJ. When I wired my CB in the last car, I just wired it straight to #1, and then grounded to the body it a few inches from the radio by attaching a lug to one of the bolts that held the knee bolster in place. I never had any trouble with that set up, never blew any fuses.BEJinFbk wrote: ↑21 Jun 2020, 00:47 They have to be out there. maybe cut down

I like the idea of adding a relay and an inline fuse, but I’m not sure it’s worth all the trouble. Why do you think those additional steps are needed?

I would like a plug that mates with the yellow open plug under the dash, with pigtailed wires ideally
I didn’t find enough info on the plug to find a mating one
