Hey All!
My son just bought a 2004 s60. We need to do the timing kit and SERP belt.
I’m trying to I’d the engine for parts but, I’m second guessing what I’m seeing.
I have taken a picture of this sticker. Can some help me decipher it? I know it should be easy but this number doesn’t match what’s coming up in the vehicle garage.

Ok. That’s what I thought it was. I guess I’m used to looking at my 98 GLTs so I was struggling finding the turbo on this one. I will get the picture of both areas that you recommend.

As abov,e if you are lucky and still have the large sticker on the side cover of the tb, otherwise you will need to decode the stamping on the block www.youtube.com/watch?v=irtWJPYWyGg Use a Continental belt kit - if replacing the pump at 200k miles use Aisin (Continental includes Hepu water pumps which Bmw owners say have caused premature problems)

On that car there is no turbo to be found per the VIN number.
The emissions sticker is not original to that car or the VIN plate has been changed. Notice the emission sticker has information about 2006 cars. They would not of had that information in 2004.
If it is a true 2004, there are two more locations for VIN number in the engine compartment. Middle of the engine bay up at the cowl. On the product ID plate which is located in under the hood at the left fender. VIN number is also on the title. All four should match.
A fifth place for the VIN number is in the ECM. You will need Volvo- DiCE or a high end scanner to read it.
If you cannot find the product ID plate under the hood. Look on the B-pillar facing the rear right hand side door. You’ll need to open the door and look to the door hinges area to find it.

Per the VIN number on the dash.
It is a 2004 S60 with a naturally aspirated 2.4L. (Engine code 64 = B5244S6). S in the engine code is for Standard or naturally aspirated. If it was Turbocharged this would be a T not a S. Transmission is a Aisin 5 speed automatic.
All this information is encoded in the VIN number except the transmission which is determined by deduction.
Outside of Canada and the U.S. the transmission is coded in the VIN number.

9 is a checksum digit.
4 = Model Year: 2004
2 = Factory Code: Ghent, Belgium.
332420 = Chassis number.

If the VIN don't match and/or the Product ID plate location is wrong, the car is smoking hot.

Engine ID locations. Trust the one on the block over the one on the timing cover. Timing covers are easy to change. Changing the stamping on the block would be real hard.

You will have to pull off the heat riser cover to see the block stamping, it’s held on with 2 or 3 M8 bolts, hit with PB blaster
