Enable HTML for YouTube EMBED videos?

Post by petershen1984 »

Is there a possiblility of exploring the embed of YouTube content on MVS There are several items of interest that I would've liked to post as embedded videos here, instead of a link to youtube.. ;-) It works well for blogs and myspaces... :-)

But perhaps, this could be in a new "video board" such posts containing embed videos, so that the managers can choose only that forum to be HTML-enabled...

Thanks,

Peter ($0.02)

Some interesting videos I've seen in the past:
2007 S80 V8 accelerating
Top Gear Cheap Cars (Volvo 760)
Top Gear XC90 (because Jeremy drives it)
various volvos on dyno runs
Volvo (240/740) snow race

Peter,
I suggest that you email matthew. He's the only one that knows the answer to your question and who could enable it if it is possible with the forum's software. matt (-at-) matthewsvolvosite (-dot-) com

Peter, I'll look into it. I can't make promises because many modifications written for this software are very hard to implement and maintain.

This forum software (phpBB) has been wonderful to this site for years -- this board started: 14 Sep 2002! I'm certainly not complaining about phpBB, especially because it's 100% free.

But

One day probably within a year I plan to move it over to bbPress, which is much more modern, and will have YouTube and Google video capability built in. It's not in release version yet.

Thanks for the question! I'll keep everybody posted on this topic.

I'd have to agree. It's very nice to have the email notification feature reminding you of a reply made to your post from several months ago...

But the array of web tools available today, working behind the scenes is even more amazing - RSS, XMLs, Wikipedia, Blogs, Databases, PHP, JSP, ASP... and stuff. Static HTML coding is so 1990s. In fact there isn't as much progress to this extent in the client side browsers...

All set. Just use the YouTube button like you use the Img button.

Put the URL inside the tags, for instance:

[ youtube ] [ /youtube ]

(I put spaces next to the bracket symbols, otherwise the code would have thought my example was a video.)

Happy video posting!

Wow, this is so much tighter and more straightforward than pasting raw HTML on here. Kudos to you, Matt!

So essentially the YouTube function takes the URL parameter and plugs it into the stream of EMBED tags? This is amazing....
