Tailgate, gas door wont unlock

Tailgate not closed has been coming on intermittently. Opened and closed a couple times error went away.
Closed tailgate Friday, Saturday wont open, no unlocking noise, to pressure on the opening paddle. Took interior off, link was off the release mechanism. However still no lock unlock sound from just tailgate. Gas door wont release. Are these connected? Fuse maybe? where to start looking?
